Youth Protection Training!

Boy Scout leaders and any other adults attending summer camp in Texas are required to take the classroom version of YPT. See www.shac.org for more details and a link to scheduled classroom YPT sessions in the Houston and surrounding area.

Also, remember that you must have a Physical Exam (basically a sports physical) prior to attending summer camp.  BSA Health Forms must be up to date for any troop camping activity, and the long form must be on file to attend summer camp.  (Click here to download the forms in PDF format.)  If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Ms. Juli Frey.

For those who need to have the Physical Exam done, Willowbrook Methodist Hospital is making available the following date for sports physicals:

Dates:        Saturday, June 2nd
Time:          8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
Cost:          $20 - cash only
Location:   13802 Centerfield Drive, 3rd Floor, Methodist Willowbrook Campus

Eagle Scouts: Merit Beyond the Badge

A recent nationwide study reported that Eagle Scouts have a positive, lasting influence on American Society.  The study reported that "those who attain Scouting's highest rank" have enhanced "values, ethics, decision making, relationships and personal development," and have a "significant, positive impact ... on society every day."

Summer Camp 2012

We will attend summer camp at Walter Scout Camp at Horseshoe Bend at El Rancho Cima, located near Wimberley, Texas.  The dates are June 24th thru 30th.  El Rancho Cima features opportunities for horseback riding, shooting sports, backpacking, outdoor skills training, and more.  Click here for more information on Walter Scout Camp and for the merit badge schedule. 

The Rough Rider High Adventure program for older scouts consists of the following: real rock rappelling, zip lining, horseback riding, wilderness survival, dug-out (mine shaft) overnighter, paint ball, blacksmithing and more.

IMPORTANT REMINDERS:  Final payment is due by April 23rd.  If you need assistance or would like to discuss the final payment, please contact Ms. Angela Wright as soon as possible.
